COUNTERBALANCED LIFTS
Most often, the lift's forward projecting legs are able to either crawl under an obstacle or straddle it. When either of these options is not available such as with low shelves along a wall, the next method is to parallel park the lift, and slide or roll the load to and from the lift's platform or end effecter. There are times, however, when neither of these options is viable. An example is a wide oven or chamber with a front skirt down to the floor. Another is a wall opening. Also some kinds of machines have shapes which preclude the use of forward projecting legs to get at the load.
The counterbalanced lift is used when other alternatives are not readily available. When such applications arise, calculations are made to determine if and how much countermass is required for stability. It is sometimes possible to also use short' "stubby" legs. The idea is to minimize the countermass requirement subject to stability and safety constraints. |
THE HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE, MOBILE WORKSTATION
ALUM-A-LIFT products may be used as height adjustable, mobile workstations. In contrast to work benches or traditional height adjustable workstations, this ALUM-A-LIFT application can provide significant cost reduction as well as flexibility in assembly operations.
Most adjustable height workstations are limited to about 17" of vertical travel. Not so with ALUM-A-LIFT. The lifts can go from floor level to virtually as high as desired. Thus long objects can be positioned at correct heights for assemblers without having to bend or stretch to perform the work.
With complete mobility, ALUM-A-LIFT does not mandate a fixed path, a specific assembly sequence. or for that matter, a dedicated area.
As a low cost alternative to single path conveyances, ALUM-A-LIFT will eliminate queues and reduce WIP.
Tilting tops, fixtures, manipulators and tools can be integrated into the height adjustable, mobile workstation configuration.
