CLASS 100 CLEANROOMS

Without modifications, ALUM-A-LIFT has been tested and found suitable for use in class 10,000 cleanrooms. For use in class 100 cleanrooms, a number of modifications are required.

Among them are:
  • special meters and switches
  • sealed battery compartment
  • sealed motor compartment
  • sealed drive train and special lubrication fitting
  • non-particulating, approved materials for scrub points and where human contact is made
  • stainless hardware
  • special end effecter materials including stainless steel where contact is made with the object to be handled

When the lifts are to be used on raised, grated floors, special casters, with minimal particulation are required. The rigs are fabricated from stainless and the wheels from delrin. The wheels are dimensioned to bridge the insterstices found in aluminum floor tiles. Test have been conducted to determine push and pull forces for loaded lifts to verify conformance with ergonomic guidelines.

Class 100 cleanroom ALUM-A-LIFTs are in daily use throughout the world in most semiconductor facilities, wafer fabs, the National Ignition Facility in Livermore, CA, and at many pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Semiconductor applications include handling ion implant tools, heater elements, quartzware, power supplies and chemicals. Examples in pharmaceuticals include handling carboys, dispensing powders and processing containers.
